About The Event
On October 9, CSIA hosted Dr. Liangchen Zhou for a lecture on “The History, Present, and Future Challenges of China’s Civil Aviation Industry.” Drawing on his first-hand experience, Dr. Zhou traced the nation’s long journey from dependence on foreign technology to growing self-reliance in aircraft manufacturing.
He outlined the three key stages of China’s commercial aviation development, noting that Western countries’ comprehensive technology embargo has made independent innovation both a necessity and a mission. Yet, he affirmed with confidence: “We are on the right path.” From imported equipment to domestically built composite systems and design software, China’s engineers, he said, have proven their capability and determination.
Reflecting on his years in the UK aerospace industry, Dr. Zhou highlighted the differences between Western specialization and China’s need to build technology and management systems simultaneously. His vision to bring back technology, management, and design philosophy is now becoming reality as China steadily advances in all three…
