The Excellent Young Scientists Fund Program (Overseas) of NSFC aims to attract and encourage excellent international talents who have achieved notable accomplishments in natural sciences,engineering, and related fields to come to China, and foster a rapid development of young scientific and technological talents. The program seeks to cultivate a great number of promising key academic personnel capable of making contributions at the forefront of global science and technology, thereby contributing to the construction of a technologically strong nation. For those who are successfully selected into this program, a 1-3 million yuan award will be offered in a 3-year period.
Hospital Introduction
The First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University was founded by experts relocating from the former Shanghai First Medical College (now Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University) to Chongqing in 1957. It has become a leading Class-A tertiary general teaching hospital in Chongqing, first-class in western China, integrating medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, prevention, healthcare and international medical services. lt has a main campus as the operating core and three characteristic hospital campuses. Adhering to the strategy of homogenized management and differentiated development, it has formed a distinctive pattern of complementary functions across its campuses. Notably, the hospital has consistently ranked first in Chongqing for five consecutive years in the National Performance Evaluation of Tertiary Public Hospitals, firmly remaining its position within the leading tier among domestic hospitals.

Feild of Study and Research Focus
Focus on basic research, frontier technology research,translational medicine research, and interdisciplinary fields, including but not limited to the following field of study and research focus: basic medicine, clinical medicine, biological sciences, biomedical engineering, artificial intelligence and big data, medical informatics, public health and preventive medicine, etc.

Application Criteria
The following content mainly refers to the guideline of 2025 Excellent Young Scientists Fund Program (Overseas) of NSFC.

Comply with the laws and regulations of the People's Republic of China, possess good scientific ethics, and conscientiously embody the spirit of scientists in the new era.

Be born on or after Jan 1, 1985.

Hold a doctoral degree.
-
The main research focus shall cover natural sciences, engineering, and related fields.

By April 15, 2025, the applicant is generally expected to have held a formal teaching or research position at an overseas university, research institution, or corporate R&D institution, with a continuous work experience of at least 36 months. For those who have obtained a doctoral degree overseas with outstanding achievements, the work experience requirement may be appropriately relaxed.

Have acquired research or technical achievements recognized by peers, and possess the potential to become an academic leader or outstanding talent in the field.

Applicants who have not yet returned to work in China full-time or who returned to work in China on or after January 1, 2024, must resign from their overseas positions or have no employment overseas upon receiving the funding notification. They are required to work full-time in China for a minimum of 3 years.

Compensation and Benifit
-
Salary: 1 million yuan/year (additional rewards for scientific research achievements).
-
Settling-in allowance: no less than 2 million yuan.

Applicants can be appointed as the distinguished professors and doctoral supervisors of Chongqing Medical University through the green channel basedon the conditions and be allocated postgraduate quotas.

Provide 5-8 million yuan for scientific research funds. Experimental platforms, instruments and equipment will be provided as needed according to disciplinary characteristics.
