About The Event
What does it mean to rule over a quarter of the globe? In Victorian Britain and the New Empire (1837–1901): Glory, Industry, and Empire, we enter the heart of the 19th century—a period of unparalleled imperial expansion, technological progress, and cultural transformation under the reign of Queen Victoria.
From factories to frontiers, railways to rifles, and spiritual awakenings to social reform, this session explores how Britain projected its power globally while grappling with change at home. We will examine the ideals and illusions of empire, the rise of industrial capitalism, and the tensions beneath the polished surface of Victorian confidence.
