About The Event

The years of Margaret Thatcher’s leadership marked a decisive turning point in British politics and society. Her policies of market liberalization, weakening trade unions, promoting privatization, and implementing fiscal restraint reshaped the country’s economy and social fabric. At the same time, her strong leadership style and firm stance in international affairs made her a figure of both admiration and controversy. This course will guide you through this transformative decade to understand how the “Iron Lady” shaped modern Britain.


This course will be led by Dr. Alexandre Loktionov, a distinguished scholar with profound academic expertise. He is currently a Research Fellow at Christ’s College, as well as a Research Fellow at the McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research and the Institute for Oriental and Classical Studies at HSE University in Russia.
