About the event

The visit to St Andrew’s Church, Chesterton, offered participants a rare opportunity to explore nearly a thousand years of local religious and cultural history. Led by Alex, the group entered a space where architecture, image, ritual and memory continue to speak across centuries. This was an encounter with a living container of faith, community and historical continuity.


Alex began by introducing the church’s long history, which can be traced back to references in the Domesday Book. The present stone church took shape in the medieval period and later became connected with King’s Hall, one of the predecessors of Trinity College. Originally Catholic and later Anglican after the Reformation, the church preserves traces of religious transformation while retaining important elements of earlier devotional art.
